Marigold Flowers + Mordanted Bandana | Holiday Gift Bundle

A special holiday bundle for your fellow plant lovers 🎁 A combination of a mordanted cotton bandana and organically grown marigold flowers to start your natural dyeing journey.

What's included:

Marigold Flowers: Organically grown marigold flowers ready to use for natural dyeing or bundle dyeing. I grew these flowers in the 2024 growing season on my mini farm in Maryland. 

Pre-Mordanted Cotton Bandana: A 100% cotton bandana pre-mordanted with natural ingredients, ensuring vibrant and lasting color results when using your pressed flowers for eco printing. The mordant process prepares the fabric to bind to the pigment from your flowers, making it easy to start your dyeing journey.

Glass Jar: This plastic-free bundle is packaged in a reusable glass jar, perfect for gifting.

Marigold creates a warm yellow dye and can shift to grey/green when iron is added as a mordant. These flowers were organically grown on my farm in Maryland. They were harvested in Fall 2024.

Each pack includes 50 grams of marigolds, which will dye between 50-300 grams of fiber (around 3 cotton bandanas to 2 jersey t-shirts). Use more marigolds to intensify the depth of color.

To immersion dye or tie-dye with marigold flowers: Simply steep the flowers in hot water, just before a boil, for about 30 minutes. Strain off the flowers and dye your fabric for about another 30 minutes to 1 hour.

To bundle dye with marigolds: Sprinkle the flower petals all over your fabric and roll it up over itself. Steam the flower pigment into your fabric on a stovetop for about 15 minutes.
